Tamalitoz Crush giving your margarita Life!

The latest addition to the Tamalitoz family is Tamalitoz Crush. We came up with this idea because we just love to drop one or two Tamalitoz candies into a shot of tequila or mezcal for an extra “kick”. It only seemed like a natural evolution to crush a piece of Tamalitoz, add an extra dose of Chili Lime seasoning, and use it as a rimmer.

It’s also great sprinkled on fruit, sherbet, or chamoyadas (if you haven’t tried a chamoyada, you need to have  one now… like today.  You can thank us later) .

Tamalitoz by Sugarox are the fiery fierce candy inspired by the sweet taste of Mexico. Taking your tastebuds on a vacation from sweet to heat and everything in between!

It all started at Sugarox Candy Studio, a tiny candy store in Mexico City making small batch hard candy and is owned and operated by husband & husband team, Jack and Dec.

Jack, being Mexican, wanted to come up with a line of candy that was inspired by the sweet, spicy and tangy flavors of Mexican candy and Dec, being British, wanted something that kept true to the traditional candy (or sweets as he calls them).

Tamalitoz are not like traditional Mexican candy,  which are covered in Chili.  We put the chili on the inside,  so you get the sweet fruity flavor of the candy first.  As you suck on them, hints of tangy and sour heat come thru.  When you reach the center you get that “OMG!” Tamalitoz moment.

Why are they called Tamalitoz?

One day, as they were making a batch of watermelon with chili pillows, a customer came in and said “these candies look like tiny candy tamales” or in Spanish “tamalitos”. That was the “Eureka!” moment and Dec said, we should call these candies “Tamalitoz” with a “Z”, and so was born our original name.

Sugarox is committed to bringing new fiery and fierce candies your way, so keep an eye peeled for what we will be working on next.

Until then, enjoy!
